Lauren shares a hug with her bridesmaid during preparation

I had an absolute blast photographing Lauren and Jimmy’s immense Great John Street Hotel wedding back in August! It was an incredible day from start to finish with so much going on throughout! We always love a good Eclectic Hotels wedding, having recently enjoyed Didsbury House Hotel and Eleven Didsbury Park weddings I knew I was in for a big day ahead and couldn’t wait to get started!

Fabulous Together Luxury Wedding Planners

For the first time, I had the chance to work alongside the awesome Andrea from Fabulous Together Luxury wedding planners who was an absolute joy to work alongside. Andrea ensured everything ran like clockwork on the day with the day running incredibly smoothly all in sync with the planning. I had a host of tremendous wedding suppliers involved in the day with The AMC Gospel Choir singing for Lauren to walk down the aisle, along with Al Grant Sax serenading guests with some deep saxophone symphonies during cocktail hour.

I met Lauren and her bridesmaids in the bridal suite of Great John Street Hotel. Naturally the champagne was in full flow and the excitement was in the air! Lauren’s stunning Pronovious wedding dress from Knutsford Wedding Gallery radiated opulence as it hung on the balcony bannister whilst she sat in the window having her make up applied. There were strong meaningful hugs and all the emotions throughout the morning as the bridal party got set for their ceremony at Great John Street Hotel.

The ceremony itself was very close and intimate as our bride and groom exchanged their rings and read their vows to one another in front of their closest friends and families, you could feel how special this ceremony was to everybody involved. Once the nuptials of the service had concluded it was time for drinks, food and partying at this terrific Manchester boutique wedding venue!

I had a brilliant time photographing Lauren and Jimmy’s wedding at Great John Street Hotel. If you like my style of photography and are currently looking for a wedding photographer, please feel free to drop me a message.

Great John Street Hotel - A cool and trendy city centre wedding venue

Great John Street Hotel is a very cool, trendy, boutique hotel in the centre of Manchester. As a converted Victorian school building, the hotel perfectly balances its beautiful period features with contemporary designer details. Run by the award winning hoteliers “Eclectic Hotels” and twinned with its sister venue ‘King Street Townhouse’ it’s clear to see that the attention to detail in every room rings true from floor to ceilings in every palatial room adorned with wonderful period features and contemporary notes. Stepping into a Great John Street Hotel room you are greeted to a cast-iron fireplace and draped chandeliers which perfectly set the tone for this ultra suave venue.
Located in the heart of Manchester, the hotel can be conveniently found in the middle of the city’s best restaurants and bars. Great John Street is also only a stones throw away from major transport links such as Deansgate station, with easy access links to Piccadilly and beyond.

The venue can be hired for your own exclusive use for your wedding day allowing you to hold your special day with up to 250 of your closest friends and family. The hotel rooms for your ceremony, wedding breakfast and your first dance are all converted school classrooms which have all been brought up to date with some very attractive contemporary styling. As you enter through the reception of this suave hotel, be sure to have a look up at the grand chandeliers lining the ceilings as you make your way through to the pewter bar located in the hotel’s Oyster Bar.

With regards to rooms the hotel also offers great flexibility for your day. You can say your wedding vows in the south-facing rooftop lounge before celebrating out on garden terrace (known as the ‘Garden Playground’ in keeping with the old school house theme) which offers the perfect location for tremendous views of Manchester’s vast skyline to take in with your friends and family. You can then nip down to the hotel’s signature Oyster Bar for a read through their selection of cocktails and ales on the drinks menu. Confetti is great for being thrown outside and there’s considerable space for this just outside the hotel reception. The mezzanine can combine with the Headmaster’s Office function suite to provide the perfect area for your wedding breakfast and combined with the resplendent bar area gives the perfect setting for your first dance.

Natural, Relaxed Wedding Photography at Great John Street Hotel

The Oyster Bar dance floor provides the perfect setting for the first dance as it allows Newlyweds to be surrounded by their closest friends and family in the grand room. From a photographer’s perspective the dual level mezzanine floor easily allows for some novel compositions as the newly married couple dance in the middle of their wedding party.

The bar area then opens up for further dancing allowing the most flexible shapes to be thrown on the dance floor and carefree partying into the night to conclude a fantastic day at this marvellous wedding venue.
