Oakwell Hall Wedding Photography

Two Bridesmaids, One Mother of the Bride, One Mirror. - At Gomersal Park Hotel

I’m sure every wedding photographer will tell you how much of an honour and privilege it is to document a lovely couples special day; it’s a great pleasure and I absolutely love doing this for all of my couples. So when you’ve been asked to photograph your friends wedding it makes it all that little more special.

I’ve known Caroline since my days working at Manchester University alongside her, and so it was lovely to be asked to photograph her wedding to Jasper at Oakwell Hall, Birstall in November. The hall itself is a wonderful place for to host a wedding, with a wooden beamed ceremony room and large glass windows allowing natural light to flood into the ceremony hall, it really is an idyllic setting to host special events and weddings.

I had my kit primed, fully charged and ready to go in the morning, and so met up with the bridal party in their suite at Gomersal Park Hotel in the morning who were pretty much already ready themselves! Champagne flutes were out and the drink was in full flow while Caroline and the girls readied supplies for the day ahead. Alongside the stories and laughter between the bridal party, almost everything had been taken care of with the bridesmaids being assigned jobs to do to help out during the preparation.
The weather was looking like it would be staying dry for the day and so with it being a winter wedding I was looking forward to a dramatic sunset sky! (which ultimately delivered later on!)

Oakwell Hall Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony room was dressed perfectly for Caroline’s entrance aisle walk with her dad. The interior decor inside is lovely and steeped in history with its wooden beams and traditional styling allowing for a very intimate and natural ceremony to take place. The ceremony itself was fully of laughs and jokes throughout which really allowed for a relaxed wedding vibe as family and friends all watched on. No sooner than the vows and rings had been exchanged we were all outside throwing confetti over our newlyweds as Caroline and Jasper exited the service processional. With the sun already setting we then used the last of the November light for some quick group family photographs followed with some couple portraits using many scenic locations around Oakwell Hall’s gardens. We then headed into the venue’s rustic styled barn for Caroline and Jasper’s drinks reception with the rest of the wedding party.

Natural Wedding Photography

Caroline and Jasper’s wedding was full of natural and relaxed moments throughout the day from start to finish. From the morning through to the evening with speeches being regaled, it was a pleasure to document the day for the newly wedded couple. As a venue, Oakwell Hall has it all and it was an absolute joy to photograph at this special wedding venue. If you are newly engaged and currently on the look out for a venue then why not visit one of Oakwell Hall’s wedding fairs and grab a brochure. The team were very warm and welcoming to all guests on the day and it was a privilege to be a part of.
